About MIDI files Today there are are many different music / sound file formats - but
MIDI is the shortest most compact format. With MIDI files it is very simple
to have music integrated in a document or a Web page, since the loading
time is very short due to the small size of MIDI files - read our MID
versus WAV & RA for more details. What is said there applies,
of course, also to all other sound file formats or sampling technology.
About music in Webpages Why do stores have background music? Why are you "on hold"
often with music?
How to play MIDI files in webpages Simply by including a few lines of code in your page - the one here calls the MIDI file per a HTML link - this basic example it is a "play on demand " option. click the link to play midi LOOPs theme Looping softly ( you will have to click your browser's back to return to the page)
A better way that does not interrupt the reading of your page is to embed the music file as background music - how this is done you may also see on our promo link page with the playing link button The music is normally played continously as long as the page is read. The music ends when another page is called. If needed you can set the number of repetitions with the loop parameter (e.g. loop=3 plays the music file 4 times), but this may not work with all browsers or plugins, however, the file will be played at least once the minimum basic code to be used is (in HTML tags )
where MIDI-filename is the file you want to be played - ( on the internet in most cases this is in the directory of the page or you must also give the subdirectory on your URL)
For our midi-LOOPs files you may want to use a image link or logo in such copyright line or notice - see our license agreement - and please inform yourself about copyright.
Another way of playing MIDI files is to use a frame line player in a small strip or portion of the browser window like we do it here on our pages, with targetet HTML links- the same is possible with Java script links- you can also instead of "inline" frames call/use multiple windows. Two line frame HTML codes can be downloaded from the promo link page. You can see and edit them in any text editor-( like notepad in Windows) to shape them to your needs.Your MIDI file links need to be extended with the - target="player" statement so the called music file is directed to the player window or frame portion. How this works you can test on our loop list page. Player images and map codes are available FREE with our licensed selections including individual frame and page setup. Also provided is HTML /Javascript support via e-mail for registered users. (This customer service available only with licensed Selections - at sales ) You can find elaborate instructions on player websites - like for the
